Diarrhea

Diarrhea happens when you have loose stools more three times in a day and you have a watery type of stools. Acute diarrhea lasts for 1 to 2 days but it can last more than that and you may need some medical attention. In the early stages of diarrhea, there are remedies that you can take to relieve it.

Hydration

One of the symptoms of diarrhea is dehydration that can be dangerous in children and adults. In infants with diarrhea, continue breastfeeding; and for young children, there are available over-the-counter pediatric solutions. For adults, sports drinks can prevent you from dehydration. But the easiest way to stay hydrated is to drink a lot of water. Also, avoid drinks that are carbonated and those that contain caffeine. This can worsen the situation.

Probiotics

Probiotics have good bacteria that help your intestine gut works well. There is food that is rich in probiotics such as, dark chocolate, yogurt, pickles, green olives, and aged soft cheese.

Over the counter drugs

OTC drugs are usually for pain due to looseness of bowel. There are OTC drugs that you can take under the supervision of your doctor such as loperamide and bismuth subsalicylate.

Foods to eat

There are limited foods you can take when you are having looseness of bowel. You should eat certain foods to alleviate the symptoms of looseness of bowel and those that can firm your stools such as toast, bananas, white rice, oatmeal, and chicken soup.
